Privacy

What the site stores about visits and how that information is used.

Session and browser storage

The site uses a first-party pseudonymous session cookie to maintain a research session. The cookie is Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and has a maximum age of 30 days. Browser localStorage may retain recent-search and column-display preferences on the visitor's device.

Raw telemetry

For security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and product research, the site may record a pseudonymous session ID, IP address, user agent, searches and filters, entities viewed, request paths, result counts, performance metadata, and the referring site/path associated with a visit where supplied by the browser.

Query strings are stripped from the separately stored request-path field to avoid redundant capture of search terms. Referrer query strings and URL fragments are also discarded before application telemetry is stored.

Retention

Raw application telemetry is automatically deleted after 30 days. Server access logs are separately rotated under the server's operational logging policy.

Pseudonymous, not anonymous

Raw telemetry is pseudonymous, not anonymous. IP addresses, user-agent information, timestamps, session identifiers, and research behavior can sometimes distinguish visits or make activity reasonably linkable.

Political profiling limitation

Visitor research histories are not used to infer or assign political ideology, party affiliation, candidate preference, donor propensity, or similar political characteristics.

Third-party tracking

The current production application does not intentionally use Google, Meta, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Matomo, Microsoft Clarity, or comparable third-party behavioral analytics trackers. This policy should be reviewed before any such service is added.
